The Controller holds a vital position in most organizations, responsible for overseeing and managing the full scope of accounting operations. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, implementing internal controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, preparing financial statements, and coordinating audits.
Serving as a key link between day-to-day accounting and the broader strategic vision of the CFO, the Controller plays a central role in developing effective financial strategies, processes, and reporting. These efforts help organizations drive profitability, control costs, optimize cash flow, minimize risk, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Meet The Team
Andrew Basile, CPA
Andrew is a licensed CPA with a strong background in nonprofit accounting and financial management. He began his career in public accounting, advancing to the role of Audit Manager where he specialized in serving nonprofit organizations. In 2017, he transitioned into outsourced accounting, where he has provided controller-level services for more than eight years.
In his controller role, Andrew has managed the full month-end close process, prepared comprehensive financial reporting packages, supported annual budget development, and created cash flow projections and financial forecasts to guide strategic decision-making. He also brings expertise in annual financial statement audit preparation, tax return support, and identifying process improvements to strengthen efficiency and internal controls. Andrew has overseen accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger functions with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
Andrew earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Mary Washington and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Richmond.
Chris Basile
Chris earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from James Madison University in 2009 and brings over 15 years of diverse experience across various areas of the financial field.
At the Department of Justice, he was responsible for a range of key financial operations, including budgetary financial reporting, cash reconciliations, bill processing, and year-end closing activities.
Chris then transitioned to the Bureau of Prisons, where he supported users through the Central Office financial help desk, providing guidance on financial policies and system-related issues. In addition to his support role, he led multiple staff training sessions, served as a system administrator, and managed several system interfaces. He played a pivotal role in the agency’s financial system migration, contributing to both planning and execution phases.
At the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Chris served as a Systems Accountant, working closely with Oracle E-Business Suite developers. He led numerous interface development initiatives and supported the implementation of various system enhancements.
With a strong foundation in financial systems and processes, Chris brings deep expertise in financial operations, systems integration, and user support across the financial landscape.
